What is a transmission slip?

A transmission slip occurs when the transmission fails to engage the gears properly, resulting in a delay or slip when accelerating. The most common symptom of a transmission slip is a sudden loss of power as the engine revs without the expected increase in speed or acceleration. Other signs of a transmission slip may include rough shifting, slipping in between gears, or difficulty in selecting gears. A transmission slip can be caused by a number of factors including low transmission fluid levels, worn or damaged transmission components, or a malfunctioning torque converter. It is important to diagnose and fix a transmission slip as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the vehicle's transmission system.
